Pork Cheeks?

Tuesday, September 22. I teach my one class in the morning, then have nothing to do the rest of the day because English Corner is also cancelled this afternoon. I'm certainly getting a lot of reading done! Currently, The Man Who Loved China, by Simon Winchester: a biography of Joseph Needham. Also take a walk - the weather has actually been nice the past two days - cooler and less humid.

Tonight, the whole Zhuzhou Group has dinner at the "Bambi" restaurant (they serve deer meat!) near our school. This consists of Katie, Micah, John, Rob, and me from Beishida; Ted, Sarah S, and Jeff from Er Zhong; Lucy and Sarah B from Nanfang; and Jessen from Tianxin. Both Nanfang and Tianxin are "suburbs" of Zhuzhou. We have, among other delicious items, a goose dish (very expensive, good flavor - but where's the meat? it's almost all bones!) and deep-fried pork cheek. The latter is quite good but a little goes a long way! Very smoky in taste.
